Taylor Fisher Headshot

Taylor Fisher

Associate Attorney

Her introduction to the legal field came when she was a deputy clerk at the Washington County Circuit Court in Southwest Virginia for two years while earning her political science degree from Emory & Henry College. She was impressed at how confident and capable lawyers at the court were when assisting their clients. “People were able to leave the court better than when they walked into it, and could get their problems handled thanks to their attorney,” Taylor recalls. It was an experience that solidified her decision to become a lawyer. After graduating from Emory & Henry College— where she was president of the College Senate, played on the women’s basketball team, and was elected senior orator to give the college’s commencement speech — Taylor enrolled at the University of Richmond School of Law, focused on family law. “In a family practice, you get to work with the juvenile and domestic relations court, defend children, help people get out of marriages, and figure out custody agreements,” she says. “Family court is more of a solutions-based court.” While earning her law degree, Taylor returned to Washington County to intern at the commonwealth attorney’s office there. She also worked on the defense side during an internship at a law firm in Abingdon, defending people accused of misdemeanors. Back in Richmond, she represented children and parents for the University or Richmond’s Children’s Defense Clinic. Beyond the courtroom, Taylor also has experience with lawmaking. She interned at McGuire Woods Consulting during the 2020 Virginia General Assembly Session, tracking legislation and analyzing bills. And she was a legislative aide to state Sen. Jennifer McClellan during the 2021 legislative session and an intern during the 2019 session. Taylor grew up in Hanover County and joined Evolution Divorce & Family Law in 2021, working on divorce and child support cases. “My goal is to bring patience and understanding to every client to help them reach the best possible outcome,” she says.

Kaelyn Kessler Headshot

Kaelyn Kessler

Legal Assistant

Kaelyn is the first voice you’ll hear when you call our firm, and the first face you’ll see when you walk in. Hers is a special role — the first impression — that sets the stage for every client’s relationship. “Working in law, I’ve found, is the best way I can use my skills to help people and make a difference for those who are in a difficult situation,” says Kaelyn, who keeps our attorneys organized as she pursues a bachelor of science degree in paralegal studies from the University of Richmond. As the firm’s legal assistant, Kaelyn is tasked with scheduling appointments, drafting documents, ensuring filing deadlines are met, and, for clients, helping quell anxiety and fear that most divorce and child custody clients feel. From the first meeting with a person in need, “I want them to feel as though they had a huge weight lifted off their shoulders,” she says. That reassurance, she notes, is thanks in part to Evolution’s pre-agreed pricing model: a flat fee, not hourly rates. “For a client to come in and know how much they are going to pay for their case gives them huge peace of mind.” Family law was the first course she took and sparked her interest in a legal profession. One former law professor, a 35-year-practicing attorney, noted her “ability to grasp complex legal concepts quickly, and then effectively convey them through her writing.” “I’ve had the honor of being taught by amazing professors while pursuing my education in the legal field. I have huge respect for them, and aspire to emulate them as best I can,” she says. “I include [lead Evolution attorney] Chris Macturk in this, as he’s incredibly patient in explaining, instructing, and mentoring me in my position here.” While technically a Richmond Spider, Kaelyn is a Ram at heart; she loves attending VCU men’s basketball games with friends. Along with spending time with her family, Kaelyn enjoys visiting Virginia wineries, listening to true crime podcasts, and taking in independent films (she’s never missed an Oscars broadcast).

What clients say about Evolution Divorce

“Besides the emotional toll, the cost of divorce weighed on me, particularly as my case took nearly three years from start to finish. I was facing single parenthood and drastic changes in my life after 20 years of marriage. However, Chris’s pricing options were vital in helping me get through those long years. Divorce is hard enough. It’s important to find someone who will fight for you while also helping you advocate for yourself.”

C.C.

“Chris was incredibly patient and answered all my questions, sometimes multiple times. He walked me through various scenarios of my case until I clearly understood all of my options and the potential outcomes. Chris was in constant communication guiding me through the entire process. Even after we reached the end, he continued to follow up making sure I was happy with the results. Evolution’s pricing structure was also a huge help. I knew exactly what to expect. I would definitely work with Chris again.”
